Created from one piece of Red wood, this Happy Monk has Sterling Silver detailed embellishments. From imagining its unique design, sculpting its shape, carving the wood, our silver smith’s work, great thought and care has gone into creating this timeless art piece.
The redwood trees are found in China and USA. Because fire is common in the regions where they grow, redwood trees have developed thick, fire-resistant bark. These trees are so rare they were thought to be extinct, until rediscovered by a Chinese forester in 1943. They were found on mountainous slopes in remote parts of the Hubei region of China, which is where Lotus Arts de Vivre sourced it from.
After sourcing the redwood, this piece took 3 months with over 8 designers and craftsmen involved at various stages to finish it.
