The publication of Unexpected Creations marked a defining moment in the story of Lotus Arts de Vivre. Conceived as a deeper exploration of the luxury atelier’s philosophy, the coffee table book reveals the passions, journeys, and personal discoveries that have shaped Lotus since its founding. Through the words of Victoria Gomelsky and the personal reflections of founder Rolf von Bueren, it traces decades of travel, cultural exchange, and the pursuit of rare and disappearing crafts across Asia, interwoven with a personal story of family. Featuring original photography by Yuriko Takagi, the book captures jewellery and objects that merge precious materials with the organic and unexpected. Its launch was a global event, celebrated in Bangkok, New York, and London, with Bangkok serving as the natural heart of the story and its most significant unveiling.
The first Lotus Arts de Vivre Boutique in the Middle East in Dubai
Lotus Arts de Vivre's first flagship Middle Eastern boutique in Dubai officially opened in early 2017, at the City Walk development. The interior, designed by Bishop Design, was a "cabinet of curiosities" with a contemporary Asian-inspired design, featuring silk wall coverings and American walnut flooring.
The store's interior design won the prestigious "Best Retail Interior Arabia 2017-2018" and "Best Retail Interior Dubai 2017-2018" awards.
Crazy Rich Asians - Lotus Arts de Vivre’s Cinematic Introduction
Lotus Arts de Vivre was featured in the globally acclaimed film Crazy Rich Asians, released in 2018 and widely recognised for bringing contemporary Asian luxury and cultural identity into sharp international focus. Within this context, the Bangkok-based atelier was introduced to a global audience through a defining moment of material expression.
In one of the film’s most memorable scenes, the character Astrid Young, portrayed by Gemma Chan, acquires a pair of the house’s signature pigeon-blood ruby and emerald-encrusted pearl drop earrings. Valued at US$1.2 million within the narrative, the piece is worn and purchased as a quiet yet decisive expression of personal autonomy — an object of rarity chosen without hesitation and later concealed, reinforcing the character’s restraint and independence.
The inclusion of the earrings positioned Lotus Arts de Vivre within a broader cultural moment, where craftsmanship, discretion, and material intelligence defined the language of modern luxury, extending the house’s presence beyond the atelier into global cinematic discourse.
Boutique Launch at Four Seasons Bangkok at Chao Phraya River
Lotus Arts de Vivre marked its 40th anniversary with the opening of its boutique at the Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River, one of the city’s most significant luxury destinations since the hotel’s highly anticipated debut in 2020. Conceived less as a retail space and more as a cabinet of curiosities, the boutique is a masterclass in atmosphere and restraint. Dark wood Thai sala structures anchor the interior, while museum-scale glass façades and recessed vitrines frame the space with quiet drama. Raw, organic textures sit alongside refined finishes, creating an intimate, contemplative environment. The opening stood as both a celebration and a statement — honouring four decades of craft, while reaffirming Lotus Arts de Vivre’s place within contemporary global luxury.
Rebranding
After more than forty years, Lotus Arts de Vivre entered a new chapter — refining its identity to reflect how the house thinks, creates, and engages with the world today. The rebrand reflects a considered modernisation of our perspective, our offering, and how we engage with our clients in an increasingly digital landscape, while remaining anchored to our core mission and values. Our logo expresses this balance, bringing together traditional craftsmanship, an uncompromising commitment to quality, and a forward-looking sensibility, without losing the character and integrity that have defined Lotus from the beginning.
Collaboration with Gordon GU
Lotus Arts de Vivre embarked on a considered collaboration with GORDON GU, marking a meeting of two Asian houses united by a shared reverence for art, culture, and the lived environment. Founded by Mr. Gu Hailong after more than two decades immersed in the industry, GORDON GU approaches home and furniture as vessels for artistic expression, where craft, culture, and contemporary life intersect. The collaboration extended LAdV’s language beyond jewellery into furniture and décor, exploring how material, form, and narrative can move fluidly between personal adornment and interior space. Rooted in Eastern sensibilities yet international in outlook, the partnership stood as a quiet cultural exchange between Thailand and China—reflecting a mutual belief in slow creation, enduring beauty, and art integrated seamlessly into daily life.
Appointment of Sri von Bueren as Creative Director
Sri von Bueren was appointed Creative Director of Lotus Arts de Vivre, formally recognising him as one of the defining creative forces shaping the luxury atelier’s identity. The elder son of founders Rolf and Helen von Bueren, Sri was raised within a world of master artisans, rare materials, and cultural exchange, where craftsmanship and curiosity were part of daily life. After completing his education in the United Kingdom, he pursued formal training in gold and silversmithing, mastering contemporary techniques while grounding his practice in traditional handcraft. Returning to Thailand, he oversaw the creation of many of LAdV’s most iconic jewellery and home décor works. His vision is defined by an uncompromising use of unconventional natural materials — from scarab wings and coconut shells to ebony, bamboo, and driftwood — elevated through exceptional gemstones and meticulous craftsmanship, and by a constant drive to evolve ancient practices for the modern world.
The opening of The Chamber of Curiosities at Anantara Siam, Bangkok
Lotus Arts de Vivre introduced its first Private Maison with the opening of The Chamber of Curiosities at Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel on 27 March. Conceived as a distilled expression of the house’s forty-year legacy, the space moves beyond the traditional boutique into a more controlled, appointment-only environment. Intimate in scale and precise in intent, the Chamber presents a highly selective body of one-of-a-kind works, heritage restorations, and bespoke creations shaped from rare natural materials. Removed from the pace of retail, it functions as a private residency — a setting defined by discretion, focus, and depth of engagement — reaffirming Lotus Arts de Vivre’s commitment to rarity, craftsmanship, and cultural continuity.
