Aarsi ring with Rubies, Pearls & Diamond Polkis with Enamel in 18/22K Gold

An elegant round ‘Aarsi’ ring, over 80 years old, embellished with diamond polkis at the center an inner circle, on a slate of natural Burmese rubies. Green enamel and cultured Basra pearls are spread over two circular patterns surrounding the ring, all beautifully held with a gold ring shank. All setting atop the ring is 22K gold, while the ring is 18K gold. 

The Aarsi ring was a traditional piece of Mughal bridal jewellery that consisted of a large, embellished ring with a slight reflective stone setting in the centre. The idea behind the ring was to provide the bride and groom an opportunity to be able to discreetly look at one another. 

Polki is a diamond in its most natural form—uncut, unfaceted, and unpolished. The diamond does not undergo several stages of processing to take on its ultimate shape as polished diamonds do. These diamonds are used in their natural form without any physical or chemical treatment.
