An elegant and whimsical fish-shaped handbag, beautifully crafted in contrasting shades of red lacquer and 24K gold leaf. The handle is finished in black lacquer and attached to the bag with exquisite gold-plated Sterling Silver fittings. A spiritual prayer bead covered in 24K gold leaf forms the lock, while the interior is lined with blue textile. Black agate-set eyes bring the design to life, and the bag rests upon gold-plated Sterling Silver feet.
Created for the sophisticated urban woman, the design balances function and artistry with Lotus Arts de Vivre’s distinctive creative language. Stylish yet versatile, the handbag transitions effortlessly from weekend brunches and summer evenings to late-night gatherings and cocktail occasions, bringing character and elegance to both casual and refined ensembles.
The creation of the bag is an exceptionally intricate process. Master craftsmen begin by hand-sculpting and refining the original mould, often requiring numerous iterations before achieving the desired form. Once perfected, contemporary 3D-printing technology is employed to create the initial structure. The piece is then entrusted to Lotus Arts de Vivre’s master designers, who transform the raw form through meticulous embellishment and finishing techniques.
The handle is crafted from Brazilian liana, a jungle vine renowned for its naturally twisting organic form, found within the tropical and temperate mountain regions of Brazil. Each section is individually selected for its aesthetic and structural qualities before being dried, hollowed and treated. Long admired by artists and collectors, liana offers a uniquely exotic texture and surface, ensuring that no two pieces are ever identical.
The lock takes the form of a prayer bead, inspired by the rosary beads traditionally used by Buddhists and Hindus in the spiritual practice known in Sanskrit as japa. These beads are used to keep count while reciting, chanting or mentally repeating a mantra or the names of a deity. Throughout Asia, prayer beads are associated with spiritual well-being, good fortune and personal balance, adding a further symbolic dimension to the design.
This red lacquer fish handbag by Lotus Arts de Vivre is a luxury novelty handbag, sculptural evening bag and statement resort accessory, designed in red lacquer with 24K gold leaf, black lacquer, gold-plated Sterling Silver fittings, Black Agate eyes, blue textile lining and a Brazilian liana handle. The design sits within strong search categories such as fish handbag, fish clutch, novelty evening bag, statement handbag, lacquer handbag, gold leaf handbag, resort handbag, luxury summer bag, animal-shaped clutch and collectible designer handbag. Fish-shaped bags and marine-inspired accessories are currently recognised in fashion search language around playful summer styling, coastal fashion and novelty designer handbags, while prayer beads connect the lock with spiritual jewellery, mantra beads, Buddhist mala and symbolic Asian design.
From initial concept to finished creation, this piece required more than two and a half months to complete, with over six designers and craftsmen contributing their expertise at various stages of production.
