A beautifully lacquered duck-shaped handbag, crafted in contrasting shades of red lacquer and 24K gold leaf, creating a rich antique-inspired finish. A fibreglass handle finished in black lacquer is attached to the body with gold-plated Sterling Silver fittings, while a prayer bead covered in gold leaf forms the clasp. The eyes are set with natural turquoise in gold-plated Sterling Silver, and the interior is lined with textile.

Inspired by the flocks of Mandarin ducks paddling around the von Bueren family ponds, this design pays tribute to one of nature’s most elegant aquatic birds as part of the Lotus Arts de Vivre Animal Handbag Collection. The defining feature of the handbag is its red lacquer surface enriched with patinated gold leaf, echoing the distinctive plumage and markings of the Mandarin duck. Natural turquoise eyes bring the design to life, while the black lacquer handle, inspired by nature’s twisting “Crazy Wood”, is joined to the body through gold-plated Sterling Silver petal motifs.

The opening clasp takes the form of a golden Rudraksha bead, a sacred seed traditionally associated with spiritual well-being, happiness, prosperity and balance of mind and body. This symbolic detail adds a deeper cultural dimension to the design while complementing its artistic character.
