The piece is handcrafted from natural Teak root wood sourced from Indonesia, with details in sterling silver and accents of 24K gold leaf. The monk holds a green textile fan in one hand and wears a strand of gold-leaf prayer beads, symbolizing wisdom, peace, and enlightenment.

Teak root wood is one of nature’s most durable and expressive materials. Formed underground over decades, each root carries unique twists, knots, and grains — no two pieces are ever the same. Harvested sustainably from old teak trees in Indonesia, the wood is prized for its strength, resistance to decay, and rich, warm color. Artists value it for its sculptural quality; its natural curves often guide the design, allowing the form to emerge organically.

After sourcing the wood, this piece took 2 months with over 8 designers and craftsmen involved at various stages to finish it.
