An ‘icy’ leaf on a a box-wood stand co-designed by LAdV and GORDON GU. Delicately poised dragonflies are hand-moulded by LAdV’s master artisans, capturing every intricate detail and natural movement before being cast in nickel-plated brass with a refined silver-like finish, and set upon an elegant boxwood base. Above, a luminous, crystal-like leaf bowl featuring ‘Glacier Crystal’, an engineered resin technology, patented and perfected by GORDON GU. Assembled in Thailand, this piece embodies a cross-cultural exchange of craftsmanship and artistry between both the brands.

An integral material here is Box Wood, (i.e., buxus sempervirens) which is an evergreen, very slowly growing shrub or small tree. Some species of this family grow only 10 - 15 centimetres in diameter over a 100-year period. Owing to its fine grain, resistance to splitting and chipping, and it being denser than water, it is a good wood for carving, and thus useful for decorative pieces, arts and artifacts, often used for symbolic instruments and applications.

In almost every part of the world, the Dragonfly symbolises change, transformation, adaptability, and self-realisation. The change that is often referred to has its source in mental and emotional maturity and understanding the deeper meaning of life. In some cultures, dragonflies represent good luck or prosperity.

Over 1.5 months of were spent to create this piece with over 6 designers and craftsmen involved across the brand’s ateliers in Thailand and China.

In a landmark collaboration, LAdV and GORDON GU unite their shared ethos of luxury and lifestyle to craft an exclusive line of home décor and sculptures. This partnership celebrates the fusion of LAdV’s eclectic designs and GORDON GU’s artistic prowess, both serving as ambassadors for each other in the vibrant markets of Thailand and China.
