This remarkable sculpture of Zhuge Liang, the legendary strategist of the Three Kingdoms period, is masterfully carved from a single piece of solid ebony wood and embellished with sterling silver and 24K gold leaf.

LAdV collaborated with a renowned national artist in China, known for reviving the ancient craft of wood carving from aged woods. Together, they developed the silhouette and contours of this sculpture, ensuring that each line, fold, and expression conveys Zhuge Liang’s calm intellect and enduring spirit.

Ebony is among the rarest and most valuable woods in the world. Prized for its rich black tone, density, and smooth texture, it has been used for centuries in royal furnishings, fine instruments, and sacred art. Due to its slow growth and scarcity, genuine ebony has become increasingly precious — a material that, once shaped, gains both artistic and investment value. In this sculpture, the rarity of the wood enhances the nobility of the subject, making it not only a tribute to history but also a lasting treasure of craftsmanship and natural beauty.

After sourcing the wood, this piece took 2 months with over 8 designers and craftsmen involved at various stages to finish it.
