A Night of Silk and Jewels, New Delhi , India
An exclusive networking event to strengthen Thai-Indian relations
The Royal Thai Embassy and Lotus Arts de Vivre, collaborated with designer Bina Modi, to foster stronger Thai-Indian relations by curating a creative journey through contemporary Thai arts and culture.
Targeting an exclusive guest list of high-net-worth individuals and movers and shakers from the upper echelons of both Thai and Indian society, “A Night of Silk and Jewels” was held at the Ambassador’s Residence at the Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi, India on Wednesday 28 November, 2012.
The event was held in celebration of the 80th Birthday Anniversary of Her Majesty the late Queen Sirikit of Thailand, whose patronage and dedication to preserve the Thai silk industry has revived the otherwise disappearing art of Thai hand-woven textiles. A Night of Silk and Jewels featured a fashion show of Thai silks made by artisans under her Majesty the Queen’s Sirikit Institute and jewellery from Lotus Arts de Vivre.
India’s prominent fashion designer Bina Modi, whose work has preserved the traditional “Gara” and “Chikan” embroidery techniques, will create a contemporary Indian-Western luxury collection using Thai silk exclusively for the evening.
